Identity Property of Addition
The Identity Property of Addition states that adding zero to any number does not change the value of that number. In mathematical terms, for any real number \( a \):
\[ a + 0 = a \]Where:
- \(a\) = is a real number
Here, 0 is the additive identity because it does not alter the original number when added. This property holds for all real numbers, integers, and even more complex number systems like matrices and vectors.
